Oreophoetes peruana
- Habitat
- Cloud forests and humid montane forests of Peru and Ecuador
- Body length
- 80 mm
- Order

Weird but real
When threatened, it sprays a milky defensive fluid from glands behind the head that can irritate eyes and skin.
Why it's cool
A walking stick with warning colors instead of camouflage: velvet black limbs, red body, and a chemical defense to match the signal.
