Jewel Caterpillar

rare

Jewel Caterpillar

Acraga coa

Habitat
Tropical forests of Central America
Body length
25 mm
Order
Lepidoptera · Dalceridae

Weird but real

Its body is covered in translucent gel spikes that look like wet glass beads.

Why it's cool

Looks more like alien candy than a living animal. The spikes pop off harmlessly when grabbed, like nature's bubble wrap.
