Green Dragontail

uncommon

Green Dragontail

Lamproptera meges

Habitat
Shaded stream banks and forest edges across South and Southeast Asia
Wingspan
45 mm
Order
Lepidoptera · Papilionidae

Weird but real

Its tiny wings beat so fast that it darts with a whirring flight, while two absurdly long tails stream behind it.

Why it's cool

A pocket-sized swallowtail built like a living racing kite: black wings, neon-green flashes, and twin ribbon tails.
