Giraffe Weevil
Trachelophorus giraffa
- Habitat
- Madagascan rainforest, on the Dichaetanthera tree
- Body length
- 25 mm
- Order
- Coleoptera · Attelabidae
Weird but real
Endemic to Madagascar. Males have a comically elongated neck used for combat and rolling leaves into nurseries for eggs.
Why it's cool
Looks like someone gave a tiny beetle a giraffe's neck as a prank, and evolution went yeah, keep it. Pure red-black-cartoon energy.
